For 35 years, scenic Portofino has lent its name to some of IWC´s watch collection. The watches and scenic port town share the rare beauty and simple elegance of the 1960´s. The enchanting atmosphere of Portofino has long lured musicians, millionaires, actors and aesthetes to its shores. As far back as the 1950´s, celebrities such as Maria Callas, Ingrid Bergman and Clark Gable discovered this enchanting enclave – and in the 60´s Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton enjoyed a few relaxing days here, while on a break from shooting “Cleopatra” in Rome. The unique combination of beautiful Mediterranean landscape with relaxed holiday life makes Portofino a magnet for pleasure seekers and aesthetics.

To mark the launch of the new “Portofino Automatic 34” collection, IWC sought to recreate the atmosphere and spirit of the 1960´s. This very spirit runs through IWC´s Portofino collection: a combination of rare beauty and simple elegance, as if the Mediterranean lifestyle we embodied and wrapped around the wrist. The new collection was unveiled in summer 2019 with top model Josephine Skriver and actress Ning Chang as the faces of IWC´s campaign. Shot in the idyllic Italian fishing village of Portofino, the campaign is rich in vibrant colors and timeless charm.

IWC has always made a point of collaborating with uniquely talented people who are more than meets the eye. In Skriver and Chang, the legendary watchmaker found ideal ambassadors for the collection. IWC wanted to bring a light and invigorated spirit to this elegant and modern collection, which is precisely what these two women represent.
