As a tribute to Ole Mathiesen, a major figure in the world of Scandinavian watchmaking, Royal Marine Blue is being launched in a limited edition of 100 copies.
The Royal Marine collection is a new interpretation of the watch that Ole Mathiesen designed in 1962. It has roots in Ole Mathiesen’s classic icon, with contemporary, well-proportioned attributes from the present generation – Royal Marine was designed by his son, Christian Mathiesen, and therefore it felt natural for the company to use this model for a limited Tribute watch.
The slim 37 mm Royal Marine is made of stainless steel. It runs with a self-winding mechanical movement, is protected by scratch resistant sapphire crystal and is waterproof to a depth of 50 meters. The dial is produced with a deep blue sun guilloche pattern, which not only produces incredible depth, but also gives off a symbolic aura.
The creation of this watch was based on Ole Mathiesen’s original concept of simplicity and quality in the details, and this model has an unmistakable touch of the master watchmaker. The many different surface treatments, the convex sapphire crystal and the slightly curved and minutely engraved dial all accentuate the materiality of the watch.
The Royal Marine Blue is a symbiosis of harmony and elegance that retains the iconic, classic expression of Ole Mathiesen.
With approximately 125 Ole Mathiesen dealers internationally, and only 100 copies of Royal Marine Blue available in the autumn, it is advised not to delay.
